Privacy Policy – Reminder Call

Reminder Call is a reminder app. You schedule what you want to be reminded of (take medicine, drink water, sleep early, study…), and at the chosen time the app rings like an incoming call from a friendly virtual character who delivers your reminder by video or voice. Confirming a reminder builds a daily streak. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed, why, and the choices you have.

Reminder Call does not make real phone calls, send messages, or connect to any telecom network. Every "call" is a simulation that runs entirely on your device. The characters are fictional; their videos are pre-recorded, generated media bundled with the app.

1Data You Create in the App

The app stores the reminders and preferences you create, for example:

Reminder time, repeat days, and the reminder text (e.g. "Take medicine")
The character you chose, or a custom name and avatar picture you selected
Call style preferences (video / voice, call theme, ringtone)
Your streak count and confirmation history
Language and settings

All of this is stored locally on your device only, in the app's private database. The only text that ever leaves your device is the optional note in the uninstall feedback survey (see section 3). We do not upload it to any server and we have no account system — nothing you type is linked to an identity. Third-party SDKs embedded in the app (Section 3) may independently collect device-level data as described below.

Reminder text can be anything you choose to write. Please do not enter sensitive personal information (such as medical details) unless you are comfortable keeping it on your device — it is never sent to us, but it is displayed on the incoming-call screen, including on the lock screen if you allow full-screen calls.

2Device Permissions & Purpose

Reminder Call requests only the permissions its features need. Complete list:

Permission	Purpose
`USE_EXACT_ALARM`	The core of the app: your reminder must ring at the exact minute you set, like an alarm clock. This permission is granted at install time for alarm-clock and reminder apps and is used only for the reminders you schedule yourself — never for background work or advertising.
`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`	Show the incoming-reminder notification and the ongoing notification while a reminder call is ringing or playing.
`USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT`	Show the incoming reminder call full-screen, including on the lock screen, at the time you scheduled — exactly like an alarm clock. Never used for ads, promotions, or unsolicited notifications. On Android 14+ this may require your approval in Special App Access; if not granted, the reminder appears as a heads-up notification instead.
`FOREGROUND_SERVICE` `FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK`	Two foreground services of type `mediaPlayback`: ReminderAlarmService plays the ringtone/alarm sound and vibration while your reminder is ringing; FakeCallService keeps the call audio running while the app is in the background. Both stop as soon as the call ends.
`RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED`	Re-schedule your existing reminders after the device restarts. Nothing else runs at boot.
`VIBRATE`	Vibrate when a reminder call rings.
`CAMERA`	Optional: show a small live front-camera preview of yourself (picture-in-picture) during a reminder video call, for a realistic call feel. Preview only — the app does not take photos, record video, save camera frames, or transmit them. If you deny the permission, the call works normally without the preview. Custom avatars are chosen through the Android photo picker, which needs no photo-library permission.
`INTERNET` `ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE`	Load advertisements, fetch remote configuration, send crash reports, and verify in-app purchases. Reminders themselves work fully offline.
`WAKE_LOCK`	Required by the Google Mobile Ads and Firebase SDKs to finish background work. Not used directly by app code.
`AD_ID` `ACCESS_ADSERVICES_*`	Serve and measure advertisements via Google AdMob. The Advertising ID is resettable and deletable in your device settings.
`BILLING`	Process optional in-app purchases (such as removing ads) through Google Play Billing, when offered.

The app does not request access to your microphone, contacts, location, call logs, SMS, or photo library.

3Advertising, Analytics & Third-Party SDKs

Advertising — Google AdMob (with Unity Ads mediation)

The free version shows advertisements through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). AdMob may also serve ads from Unity Ads through mediation. These SDKs automatically collect and may share the following with the ad network:

IP address and coarse location derived from it
Device and account identifiers (Advertising ID, App Set ID) and user identifiers assigned by the ad network
Device model, OS version, language
In-app interactions (app open, ad impressions, clicks, video views)
Crash and performance diagnostics
Purchase history, when the app offers in-app purchases (Unity Ads uses it for ad measurement)

This data is used for advertising, measurement, app functionality, and fraud prevention and is encrypted in transit. Ads are never displayed on the incoming-call screen, the in-call screen, the confirmation screen, or any full-screen intent notification — only in standard app screens.

Firebase (Google)

Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage statistics (screens opened, reminders created/confirmed, ad events) tied to a resettable app-instance ID, so we can understand which features are used.
Uninstall feedback (optional) — the app adds an "Uninstall" shortcut to its launcher icon that first opens a short "Before you go" survey. If you use it, the reasons you select and the free-text note you type (up to 300 characters) are sent to Firebase Analytics so we can read what went wrong and fix it. The note is optional and is not linked to your name or e-mail address — please do not include personal information in it.
Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports containing device model, OS version, app version, and the technical stack trace of the crash. No reminder content is included.
Firebase Remote Config — downloads configuration values (for example which ad placements are enabled). It sends only the standard Firebase installation identifier.

Advertising ID

The Advertising ID is a unique, resettable, and deletable identifier. You can reset or delete it in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads.

On-device libraries

CameraX (camera preview), Media3 ExoPlayer (plays the bundled character videos), Glide (images), Lottie (animations), Room (local database), and Hilt are used solely for on-device functionality and do not transmit your reminder data.

4User Consent (EEA / UK / Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the app shows a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) before serving personalized ads, as required by law.

You may accept or decline personalized advertising.
You can change your choice at any time via Settings → Manage Consent in the app.
If consent is declined, non-personalized ads may still be shown.

5In-App Purchases

The app may offer an optional purchase to remove ads. Transactions are processed by Google Play Billing; the app only reads the purchase status to grant the entitlement. We never see or store your payment details.

6Data Sharing

Advertising / analytics providers: device-level data as described in Section 3, and only while ads/analytics are active.
Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law or a valid legal process.

We do not sell your personal data. Your reminders never leave your device through the app.

7Data Retention & Deletion

Your Reminders & Preferences

Stored locally in a private Room database and app-private storage. Android Auto Backup is disabled (allowBackup="false"), so nothing is backed up to Google Drive or any cloud service. You can delete data at any time by:

Swiping a reminder and confirming deletion inside the app
Clearing app data from device Settings
Uninstalling the app (all data is permanently removed)

Advertising, Analytics & Crash Data

Managed by Google (and Unity for mediated ads) under their retention policies. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, opt out of personalized ads in device settings, and change consent inside the app. To request deletion of analytics data associated with your app instance, contact us at the email below.

8Data Security

All user-created content stays on your device. Data collected by the advertising and Firebase SDKs is encrypted in transit using TLS. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9Children's Privacy

Reminder Call is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that data has been collected from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete it.

10Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, to withdraw consent for personalized advertising, and to object to processing. Because reminder data is stored only on your device, you exercise most of these rights directly in the app or device settings; for anything else, contact us below.

11Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in features, advertising, or legal/platform requirements. Changes are reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, by a notice within the app or the store listing.
